To All Members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering:
Due to the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, following the guidelines provided by the University of Maryland, College Park, the operations of the Department of Mechanical Engineering will now be 100% Teleworking, effective immediately and until further notice. We need to support and be mindful of all employees in caring for their health and reducing risk of exposure to COVID-19.
We will send out shortly detailed directions on those needing to pick up hard checks tomorrow. Please make sure to do direct deposit if you have not done so it is important to everyone, especially with the current COVID-19 Outbreak.
Effective March 19, 2020 until further notice, the ME Main Office will no longer be open.
Finance Requests: All requests submitted through mefinance@umd.edu.
Purchasing Requests: All requests need to be submitted through umd.procurify.com.
Package Distribution
Due to the limited access to campus buildings, all deliveries are being received by the Distribution Team. FedEx and UPS deliveries that would normally be delivered to campus departments will instead be delivered to the Severn Building. The Distribution Team is available 8:00 am- 3:00 pm daily. Please note some suppliers have already indicated they are unable to deliver due to the outbreak.
Teaching Items/Non-Research Projects
Please contact Penny Komsat at skomsat@umd.edu to get status on your order and tracking number. Once you have the tracking number, you are required to call 301-405-5852 or email Doug Waterman at dwaterma@umd.edu for an appointment for package pickup. Only university employees may pick up supplies; a university ID must be presented at time of pickup.
If you need to buy additional teaching items please make sure to still put an order through Procurify. Once the items have been approved you may purchase these items yourself. Please keep the receipts and contact Penny to process reimbursement. In addition, please make sure you keep the packing slip.
Research Items
Please contact Yiting Duan at yduan@umd.edu to get status on your order and tracking number. Once you have the tracking number, you are required to call 301-405-5852 or email Doug Waterman at dwaterma@umd.edu for an appointment for package pickup. Only university employees may pick up supplies; a university ID must be presented at time of pickup. Lastly, please make sure to keep the packing slip.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- Do not order hazardous materials unless absolutely necessary or items that require refrigeration.
- Hazardous materials must be delivered to the Severn Building/P&SS and may only be delivered to or picked up by DOT HazMat certified personnel.
- Radioactive materials will continue to be routed to the Department of Environmental Safety, Sustainability and Risk for intake.
- Cylinder gases, tank refills, and dewar refills should be ordered following normal procedures; Air Gas and Praxair are continuing to process orders and deliver.
Travel Requests: All requests need to be submitted through metravel@umd.edu.
Payroll and HR Team: All requests need to be submitted through mehr@umd.edu.
Proposal Team: All requests need to be submitted through meproposals@umd.edu.
Front Desk Team: Staff will be teleworking.
Business Office Management Team: Staff will be teleworking.
ME Facilities: All requests need to be submitted through mefacilities@umd.edu.
IT Team: All staff will be teleworking. IT support will be ongoing during the campus closure. As always, all requests should go through our ticket system via umd.jitbit.com or meit@umd.edu.
Once we receive your request any issue that requires remote hands-on support will be handled through rhelp.umd.edu – a service that will allow us to remote into your computer and take care of any software needs or issues.
If your issue would best be served with a real time chat, we will message you via teams.webex.com. Webex Teams will allow us to share files, photos, links and more in real time to get you up and running as quickly as possible. And from there, if we need to, we can initiate a video chat using Webex Meetings.
Finally, for any issue that requires a physical presence, our teammate Aman will be able to assist you. He is very knowledgeable and should be able to resolve any issue quickly. And we will be on hand for guidance, if necessary.
